It's been a month, I guess I could update again.

Yeah, Northwest totally rocks and I'm so happy :) Classes are going amazingly well. I love private lessons!! It's awesome when you can come out of a voice lesson and just be so happy your heart is bursting with love and music and....AUUGHH!! It's FANtastic! Tower Choir is pretty much amazing. I get soooo happy before I go into that class, no matter what. I lovelovelovelovelove it! It's going to be awesome to get to know everybody in there better and to travel with them on break.......!

All of a sudden the weather has decided to turn around and it's beautiful! Supposed to be in the 80's and high 70's this week, woot-woot! Freshman Seminars filled out 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 29-year plans for graduation...I'm on the 5 year right now. Next semester I've got 20 credit hours, so we'll see how that goes. Actually, I'm pretty excited about it!!! Lots of summer classes, though.....next summer, after my sophomore year, I'm planning on living here on campus, prolly for 2 months or so, and getting a job and taking classes on campus. Should be fun! Especially because Emily and Cady will be here too, YAY!

Last night marching band was the exhibition performance at the Clarinda, IA Marching Band competition. So it was really weird to walk through all the trailers and costumes and cases and see all the bands getting ready to compete and to know we didn't have to.....and I know band was frustrating for me this past year in HS and a lot of people dropped, but WOW! I just had so many feelings of "I want to be a band director SO badly! This is what I'm going to school for - I'm actually going to get to do what I want to!!" Yeah....I'm excited that I decided to go for the extended certification (which basically is a dbl major, confusing, just not called that), and I have options. I can teach band! and choir! yay! I'm a nerd....

I've been trying to get more sleep this week. I've been dying.....the staying up till 1-1:30 every night every day of the week can work out for you for a while....like I made it about a month.....but then it catches up, and I'm starting to see how long it really takes to get back on a normal sleep schedule. SO - naptime every Sunday afternoon is the plan.

It was fun, mostly, to be home 2 (1?) weeks ago, I mainly needed warm clothes. Nice to see Grandma & Grandpa again...and my puppy Molly!!!!!!!!!!! And it was a blast to come back here. Not going to lie. I got to see Jennifer, yay! Kinda strange....the more I think about it and don't hear from a few ppl that said they would just die........it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Sometimes it makes me a little irritated, but what can you do? Sometimes guys make you overlook your friends, whatev, it'll be fine. If I haven't kept up with some of you as much as you wanted, I apologize! College really is a whole separate/new world from your old life, and you're existing on your own, living with people that turn out to be your best friends, and trying/succeeding in keeping up with everybody your age and older. But if you e-mail me, I'll totally return it! I live in Microsoft Outlook, it seems - I get very depressed when there's no new mail!

haha random - I joined the Facebook group "if you remember this, you grew up in the 90's" - and one of my faves - "You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school!" !!!! That is so me!!!! hahahahahahahaha....and the fact I still get excited about it now.....lol

lots of love,
*Amy*

College Life rocks!

Yep. College pretty much is amazing. I love Northwest Missouri State University!!!! So events so far.....

  • Band camp was AWESOME! Fantastic section leaders and music!
  • The rest of the band is awesome! Lots of new friends
  • High-stepping is freaking awesome and works my legs
  • WHOOKA!!!!!
  • Cady's totally the best roomie eva!
  • Ashley/Emily/Cady and I are totally wanting an apartment next year
  • The whole no-air conditioning thing in Douglas is cool-hott girls live here! haha
  • Anne is totally the coolest to sit with in Chorale (which is a GOOD group!)
  • totally have the coolest Freshman Advisors Mary & Matt!
  • I made Tower Choir! woot for Spring Break Extended Tour in Washington DC!!!!
  • Dr. Town is my voice instructor!
  • I made Wind Symphony!
  • and Madraliers/Celebration!
  • Hanging out with new ppl a lot - like Sam, Andrew, Staci!
  • and I totally only have classes at 11 and 4 today!

Ways I've changed!

  • I'm so over the over-achiever-ness in schoolwork. Music majors don't have time!
  • Dropped Honors History - no time, and I'm not going to stress about it!
  • Yeah, I really haven't been stressed out here at all. Amy Sweets?? WHAT? Yep. I'm pretty mellow and go-with-the-flow and nobody here thinks I'm capable of spazzing/stressing out!
  • Picking up lots of information quickly
  • Staying up till 2 and getting up at 7:30 for an 8 o'clock class
  • Socializing (in a safe way, duh) with lots of random people!
  • also I use e-mail constantly. so E-MAIL ME LOSERS
  • not really missing Hannibal at ALL! ie-I could come home this weekend, but I'm not going to for another 2 weeks, woot!

Soooo I guess I'll install some dumb computer class info now....then take a nap maybe....practice flute/voice.....band practice.....and hang with friends till all hours! yay!

Good-byes suck. They really do.

Went to Java Jive tonight with Katie, Twins, Joey, Michael, & Brandon. Really great times!! We were there for about 3 hours and just hung out.......cha the good-byes were not fun. Thanks Joe  I like to cry!

Then went to Adrienne's w/Laura and Joe to see him for the last time.... I can't even describe that. Did a lot more crying. This sucks.

And Neal left Sunday. Won't even go into that sadness.

What am I going to do without you Adrienne?????
